Legal Blogs

Some standouts:
SCOTUS Blog A great source for updates on the Supreme Court, maintained by one of the leading Supreme Court litigators.
How Appealing The premier appellate law blog, focuses on the federal circuit courts of appeals and the Supreme Court, but also includes short summaries of any other interesting legal news. Maintained by a solo appellate litigator and one of the most prolific blogs I have ever seen.
Lawrence Lessig A well-developed blog on the work of Prof. Lessig and affiliates. Prof. Lessig is one of the leading IP and Constitutional Law scholars.
Sentencing Law and Policy Blog Sentencing is the hottest thing right now. This blog is quite comprehensive.
Balkinization A thoughtful blog by a liberal Constitutional Law scholar from Yale, Jack M. Balkin.

Legal Resources

Here are some other non-blog resources that are useful:
OYEZ: A site with a tremendous amount of information on the Supreme Court. The "Justices" link features a great deal of biographical information on the Justices, most of whom were very interesting individuals.
Legal trivia junkies and baseball fans will enjoy Oyez Baseball, in which you can test your knowledge of Supreme Court Justices and baseball trivia. The game asks you to find which baseball player is most analogous to a Supreme Court Justice (I'm not making this up). My favorite comparison: Justice Owen J. Roberts and Tony Mullane. Roberts was the "Switch in Time that Saved the Nine", and Mullane was baseball's first (maybe only?) ambidextrous pitcher. I love it.
